[ Wei Wuxian is here, sitting and eager to meet these new contestants. When Aventurine arrives, he'll give a short wave and greet him merrily. ]

Aventurine-gongzi! Hello! Tell me, how are you feeling?

[ It's not often that conversations he makes will wind up so publicized, and Aventurine is acutely aware that what he says and does here will be scrutinized by everyone he knows. He doesn't really mind it, though — privacy is a luxury he didn't come here for, and a little extra challenge makes things more...interesting.

Anyway, he sits, one leg crossed over the other, elbow leaning against the armrest of his chair so he can support the side of his head in his palm. ]

This is where I should admit I'm a little nervous, isn't it? Truthfully, though...more than anything, I'm excited. Haha, there are few things that I anticipate more than a fresh, new wager.

[ i promised he would make a gambling analogy in his first tag ]

[ GOD....... OF COURSE. OF COURSE HE DID!!!

Wei Wuxian just admires the easy confidence Aventurine approaches their chat with and smiles in delight at his words. He crosses one leg over the other then and leans back in his seat, arms folded over his chest as he watches Aventurine. ]

If that's the case, what are the stakes of this wager? What's a "win" for you?

[ He expected this question would come up early, and often, so he's rehearsed it — even if it took more rehearsal than expected to make the words sound natural, comfortable. ]

You don't already know the answer to that? To find my perfect match, of course.

[ Wei Wuxian has no reason to believe that Aventurine has rehearsed these words, that it's part of his image more than anything else. So, he takes them at face value and nods his head. ]

No, no, you're definitely not. But still, some people want the wish more, or don't really care if they end up with their perfect match but a match in general. It's something to consider!

[ That's just as he expected too, then. No one's reasons for being here are likely to be simple. ]

It's hard to deny the appeal of such a powerful wish, my friend. I'm curious, so indulge me, if you will - what would you wish for, if you were a player in this game?

Alright, back to our deal. Is there anything you want to ask me this time around or are you still feeling everything out?

[ Ah, here they go again...has it really only been a week since their last interview? ]

Oh, I'd say I have a pretty good feel for the flow of things by now. [ Lol. Lmao, even. ] Still, I must confess, we did better yesterday than I expected! A bit of a tricky hand — a blackout might've been more helpful. [ A playful smile. ] But you know I like a gamble where the odds are stacked against me.

[ He laughs a bit at that and nods his head. ]

Yeah, yeah. I mean, your luck really did help everyone out, I think. Three whole lights! On the first try too! That's — good, I think? Then again, I haven't really been thinking about the statistics.

[ Wei Wuxian IS a Math Guy, when he wants to be. He doesn't, right now. ]

So, do you think your match is Maya?

Three this week, and eight next week. We're well on our way to figuring things out early, I'd say!

[ Or so he'd like to make the host and producers believe. Might encourage them to shake things up a bit, right? ]

I'd say we have a solid chance. We get along well, and we're both gorgeous, of course. What do you think of us?

[ Your guy is here. Your buddy(?). Your overseer pal. He is looking... sheepish as Aventurine settles into the room. ]

I have to apologize, gongzi. I might've been very wrong about all my predictions so far.

[ What a week, is he right...still, despite their blackout that was only saved by the power of small lesbians, he seems to be in rather good spirits. ]

All of them? Surely you're not giving yourself complete credit for our utter failure.

[ With just enough cheek. He's kidding! Mostly. ]

[suibian]

[ Just... just going to put his face in his hands. ]

I don't know! I pushed people towards others and some of those turned out very badly. I don't know how much sway my advice has but ah, I felt terrible after yesterday's ceremony.

[gamboler]

[ Well, he's not exactly wrong, there...thinking back to the way Messmer outright no-scoped Wei Wuxian in their discussion after the ceremony: ]

So you really have no idea about the matches? You were just speculating based off of intuition.

[suibian]

[ A nod of his head. ]

I know some of your histories and thought that would make it easy for me to predict some of the matches. But now I'm worried I might've been completely off with a lot of my predictions.

WEEK THREE

[ A short little wave as Aventurine arrives. ]

Welcome to our last chat, gongzi! Tell me, how are you faring?

[gamboler]

[ Every time he comes in here for a chat, he feels just a little more ragged...at least he seems fully recovered from his hangover, though still a bit more guarded than the week previous. ]

Oh, that's not an answer I need to spell out for you, do I?

[ Answer a question with a question...yeah. ]

I think now's the time to focus on our matches rather than our feelings. As they're often mutually exclusive, it seems. I don't know about this algorithm of the showrunners...

[ Ah, Aventurine! He promises not to squeeze you dry this time!

But he snorts at the answer and then shrugs. ]

I suppose not. You've gone through the wringer, my friend!

[ But right — ]

So, you don't think the algorithm works?

[gamboler]

[ A wave of his hand, as he chuckles. ]

Oh, hardly! I'll admit that myself and Miss Maya had potential, if she is my match. But as they say, the heart wants what it wants...

[ And what his wants is a vampire sunshine boy, it seems. ]

I'd give it...a fifty-percent success rate, give or take depending on how things shake out this week.

[ So cute............ look, sunshine boys aren't his type but he appreciates the romance regardless. ]

Fair enough! I can't defend it myself, I don't even know how it works. But it seems like sometimes it really, really, really works and sometimes it really, really, really doesn't.
